Richard van der Veen recently joined us as Operational Director. He is responsible for purchasing, quality standards and market introduction (preparation for serial manufacturing). We’ve asked him a couple of questions so you can get to know him.
What is your background?
I have got at least three decades of experience in the HVAC industry with developing gas/oil boilers, heat pumps, domestic hot water and solar systems. I’ve specialised in developing products for serial manufacturing by carefully aligning planning, reliability, design and product price. I’ve got an extensive business network in the supply chain sector.
What motivated you to come to Cooll?
After many years of working at huge corporations, it was time for me to find a company like Cooll where I could roll up my sleeves. I look forward to work on a great product with a highly skilled team and use my knowledge (and experience) to move our heat pump to serial manufacturing.
How would you describe the potential of the Cooll heat pump?
Anyone who takes the energy transition seriously will soon realise that there is no single holy road to sustainability. There is a huge potential for the Gas Adsorption Heat Pump, as the technology comes very close to existing central heating boilers and it’s perfectly suited for a drop-in replacement. The Cooll heat pump saves up to 40% on the gas consumption of a traditional central heating boiler, has better performance at low outside temperatures and does not require a noisy outdoor unit. Yes, I do know it still uses natural gas, but green hydrogen or biogas will prove to be 100% green alternatives in the near future. What would you like to achieve?
My goal is to initially take GAHP to the next level. By that I mean creating a reliable, cost-efficient product that can be produced on a large scale. Furthermore, my ambition lies in supporting the development and growth of Cooll as a company.
